Learn to Scuba Dive
There are three steps to becoming a certified diver: Knowledge Development, In-water training, and Open Water dives. At Aquatic Adventures, we offer three paths for completing your Open Water Course: The Traditional-length course, The Hybrid Course (completed in one weekend), and In-water training combined with a referral.
- Knowledge development is the first step and requirement for a recreational Open Water Diver certification. PADI eLearning is an independent study option that lets you learn at your own pace, providing the knowledge and fundamentals you will need to confidently advance to your in-water training with a PADI Instructor.
- In-water training: During this step, you will practice your dive skills and learn how to use your scuba gear with a PADI Professional in a local. These practice dives will help you build your confidence before you begin your open water dive training.
- Open water training: During this third and final step you will complete four open water dives with a PADI Instructor to complete your PADI dive certification.
Paths to Open Water Certification:
- Traditional Length Course: Learn to Scuba Dive over two weekends (weekends do not have to be consecutive). The first weeked will cover Knowledge Development and In-Water training in a local pool. You will then complete the four Open Water dives during another weekend at Lake Phoenix.
- Hybrid Course: The hybird course offers you a chance to earn your Open Water Certification in just one 3-day weekend. The E-Learning portion of the course is followed by three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) at Lake Phoenix to complete the certification. Students must be 13 years old or older and should be very comfortable in the water since the entire class will be completed at Lake Phoenix. Please note the eLearning takes an estimated 12-15 hours to complete and will need to be finished before the course starts on Friday morning. There will be a mandatory in-shop class (6pm-8pm) on either the Wednesday or Thursday before the Hybrid weekend.
- In-Water Training with a referral: If you already have a trip planned and would like to complete your certification dives (after completing the In-Water Pool sessions with Aquatic Adventures) while traveling we can provide you with a referral form which will allow you to finish your certification at any PADI resort or retailer.
