"Professional and knowledgeable instructors. My husband and I -- on a whim -- decided to pursue a scuba diving certification with no prior knowledge. Our primary instructor at Aquatic Adventures, Wayne, was very knowledgeable, patient, and helpful in teaching us core scuba concepts and about the many pieces of scuba equipment. I had been a bit scared prior to the class, but he repeated concepts and skills, and answered my numerous questions, until I felt comfortable. He also was very attentive to us at all times. We completed our pool certification with Aquatic Adventures and then completed the open water certification while on a vacation. Our scuba instructors for the latter were very impressed with how well prepared we were from Aquatic Adventures and kept saying that they felt lucky that their job was much easier than usual. Furthermore, on our first dives after certification, we recognized that we had safer techniques than some other divers on the same trips, for which we felt very fortunate! Highly recommend the instructors! We also appreciated multiple store employees' help in selecting equipment. For instance, I discovered that my previous mask didn't fit as well as it should after the store let me test out other masks, which then made scuba diving much more enjoyable for me. Definitely plan to take any more courses with Aquatic Adventures."

"Great place to learn how to scuba dive. The course was set up great. No rushing or assuming the student knows more than they do. They go over skills until you are comfortable with it before moving on. They do this in a friendly way and focus on the student. This was extremely important to me and gave me the confidence and motivation to continue on after a less than desirable experience I had learning to scuba dive at a different dive school a couple of years ago. If you are interested in scuba or had a poor experience learning before I recommend coming here. Don’t let a prior bad experience dissuade you, it’s an amazing experience and being taught right and trusting your instructors and the equipment is everything. You will find that here."

"Awesome shop for your diving training. I recently took the Open Water Certification pool training. Kim, Paul and Drew were an excellent team. They were informative, encouraging and patient. I was a bit nervous on day one and they helped me achieve the comfort that I needed to feel confident going into the open water dives. The teaching team fostered a community even within us training - which was awesome. I can't wait to continue my diving adventure with Aquatic Adventures!"

"All the people at Aquatic Adventures Scuba Academy are so great to work with! I signed up for my Advanced Scuba Open Water cert with them and not only was it easy, but they made it super fun!

The classwork was all on line, and so is super convenient. The open water dives were done at Lake Phoenix Scuba Park in Rawlilngs, VA over the weekend. The Aquatic Adventures staff have a great setup down there so the access to the water is easy.

All diving was organized and felt very safe. In fact, it was some of the most fun diving I've had!

I will absolutely be recommending Aquatic Adventures Scuba to friends and intend to use them for any future certifications I look to complete."

"My wife and I are in our 70s and not in the best of physical shape. We had not done diving for a more than 15 years. We decided to return to diving with the same school we attended more than 20 years ago. Indeed what a pleasant encounter. The new Springfield location is spotless well organized and simply a delightful place to look at and be in. We took the class of May 4th. The staff could not do enough to make sure that everyone was comfortable, safe and was able to absorb all the information they taught us. Our primary instructors, Elizabeth and Paul Witt were most professional yet kept the entire experience pleasant and enjoyable while seeing that every student was able to understand and retain the material. The pool experience was certainly equally enjoyable. With 12 students numerous staff members and all the equipment that needed to be transported to the pool we expected somewhat of a chaotic atmosphere but instead the whole process was orderly, organized. Along with Beth and Paul their assistants Mark and Matt we are equally outstanding. Everyone worked very hard to keep the entire experience enjoyable, fun and relaxed, while still insisting that each student mastered each of the many skills we had to learn. It was all done with professionalism, compassion and a great deal of personalized attention. Needless to say I highly recommend Aquatic Adventure to anyone interested in Scuba Diving

"First met some of the folks from Aquatic Adventures at one of the local pools where they were teaching a scuba class and my wife and I were taking swimming lessons. Intrigued, we decided to take their Discover Scuba class and then the Snorkeling class. We're now on our way to getting Scuba certified. Pretty quick progression in less than a year for people who had never ventured into the deep end before. We owe it to the enthusiasm and professionalism of the Aquatic Adventures instructors. They are all first rate ambassadors for the sport of diving."

"My son and I recently did our PADI Open Water certification with Aquatic Adventures at Lake Phoenix in VA. Not only was the location spectacularly beautiful, but Cheryl and her team were the BEST, most HELPFUL, FRIENDLIEST, most KNOWLEDGEABLE, KINDEST, and most AMAZING group of instructors and dive masters that you would ever hope to learn from or work with!!! From the first moment, they put you at ease by explaining every step thoroughly before you even got in the water. They helped adjust our equipment, gave useful tips, and told funny stories of when they were learning. Additionally, Cheryl cooked the absolute BEST meals for supper each night, and considering how exhausted I felt after diving each day, that was a wonderful bonus. I cannot express my appreciation enough for each of the instructors and master divers - there were actually MORE of them than of students so everyone received personalized attention. A special THANK YOU to Cheryl for her support and encouragement when I was feeling sick and to Joanne and April for their help with my last dive!! I couldn't have done it without them!

"Took part in their Potomac Watershed Cleanup at Mason Neck Park. They had people on the shore, kayaks on the water, and divers in the water all cleaning up. Fun morning, excellent organization and most importantly loads of trash removed.

"They are the cheapest in town. At first, I was concerned with the quality of their products and services, but then I learned that they don't this for the sake of money. They teach/perform services simply because they enjoy it. All the staffs/instructors are very friendly and helpful.

I live in Fairfax. There are a few other dive shops within 2-3 miles from where I live, yet I chose to go to Aquatic Adventure despite having to travel far. I highly recommend this shop."

"I highly recommend Aquatic Adventures for your Open Water Dive Certification. For me, the most important factors in selecting a dive training center are 1) Safety and 2) Comfort. When you learn to dive with Aquatic Adventures, you can tell that these are their top two goals as well. They always ensure that everyone is safe, and you immediately feel like you are part of their dive family. The instructors and dive masters go out of their way to be helpful and approachable. There is a great ratio of staff to students, which gives you the personal attention to really master all of the important skills. The staff's enthusiasm for diving is contagious, and I am looking forward to diving and learning more advanced skills with this shop.

The shop is also great about helping you with your gear. Whether you are looking to buy or just rent, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and happy to help you get the gear to make your diving enjoyable."

To anyone thinking of going online to buy a gear package, I'd say go here instead; I was able to get excellent gear at a very competitive price, less than I would have for an equivalent "package" that probably wouldn't have had exactly what I wanted.
